Comments:First observed by Forest G. On arrival at 1651, Main Vent was splashing and River Vent was off, so it is possible we were in a River Pause. 1651, 1654, 1655 Main Vent splash. 1657 Upper Mortar splash. 1657-1705 Bottom Vent eruption. Very large with lots of water pouring into the river. 1659, 1701, 1704, 1705, 1706 Main Vent splash. 1706 Huge Main Vent splash angling out of the crater and on to the platform. 1707 Main Vent splash. 1707, 1708 Bottom Vent for about 10 seconds. 1709-1716 Bottom Vent eruption. 1709, 1712 Upper Mortar splash. 1714 Main Vent huge splash. 1716, 1717 Main Vent splash. 1718-1727 Bottom Vent eruption. 1723 River Vent on. 1726 Gold and High Vents on. 1736 Angle Vent on. Gold and High were sporadic a few minutes before Angle came on. All 3 vents continued to be sporadic. 1746 Gold Vent in steam. 1750 River Vent off. During the first Bottom Vent eruption, a ground squirrel was caught between the 2 streams of runoff entering the river. We watched him scurry from one stream to the other until finally he leaped across the front stream to make his escape.
