Comments:Probably a long, strong eruption. From 0620-0630 still “coning” (sending bursts 4-8 feet above the crater rim with all water falling back into the crater.) At 0900 water level in the crater was still visible with boiling around the inside of the crater rim. This visible boiling occurred at intermittent intervals through 0929. There was no further visible boiling between about 0930 and when I left at 0955. I moved the mid-point of the prediction window out to 13 hours. I told some friends I wanted to move it out to 15 hours, but was afraid to do so since I hadn’t seen the actual eruption. Subsequent evidence (the succeeding interval was just under 16 hours) showed I could have safely moved the midpoint out to 15 hours. Oh well, better safe than having visitors miss an eruption!
