Comments:0950 observed pool overflow and bubbling boil. Bubbling and boiling generally increased until the eruption. Catch basins had water in them, but that may have been from rain last night. Formation otherwise looked dry. The vent can be seen from the small overlook past Champaign Pool and just down the steps from the Panoramic View (#9 on the current map), heading toward the Green trail. Bring binoculars to see if there's water and bubbling going on as the vent is well below this viewpoint. The vent is past the railing, between the 3rd and 4th post on the closed boardwalk below. 1015 overflow then dropped slightly. 1030 same. 1038 strong doming boiling, then bigger drop. Maybe an aborted attempt at a minor? 1043 rose back to the typical level just below overflow. 1046 stronger boil and overflow built to all around the rim. 1047 subjective decision that this was truly an eruption. Making me set the start time at 1046 with the big push as the splashing built. Never having seen it erupt before I wasn't sure till 1047, but the activity started at 1046. 1100 ended with some light steam. Eruption may have hit 6 feet for top droplets, but it's hard to tell from this distance and angle. The eruption looked like the late stages of a North Goggle minor eruption, where it's low and splashing above the vent, but this lasted 14 minutes. In 2019, Suzanne and Heinrich had seen a 2m minor followed 10m later by a 13m major. Activity seems similar today. 1219 water visible in vent at a low level and not bubbling. 1302 level has risen up to typical water level, just below overflow and not bubbling. 1312 no change. 1322 light bubbling at the far end of the pool. 1332 very small increase in bubbling. 1342 same plus a drifting bubble in the center. 1352 slight bubbling in center. 1402, 1412 same. 1422 big bubbles coming up every few seconds. Also in overflow. 1432 bubbling steadily with occasional bubbles showers. Water level seems to be holding at slightly higher level than 0950 observation and activity slightly better. 1442 similar, maybe a little more bubbling. 1445 stronger bubbling continuously doming the surface. 1455 same. 1505 stronger continuous doming. 1515 same.
