Comments:two very beautiful eruptions and it appears that there was at least one eruption before the observations began at 9:00. Each time Guardian played water – around several hundred gallons – was thrown out of the vents in the form of a fan. The majority of the water was shot out near a 45 degree angle towards the south. The 9:06 eruption was the strongest observed with a little of the water reaching the concrete sign below Valentine – a distance of 50 feet. Each eruption was preceded by splashing out of the vents which gradually became more continuous & powerful. Both times Guardian played about 2½ minutes and then went into a relatively quiet steam phase. It remained in this state after 9:35 when observations were ended.
