36666 01 Sep 2024 @ 0000 --- JarnoO (generic time) "Since the hydrothermal explosion at Black Diamond Pool in Biscuit Basin on July 23, a number of minor water eruptions have occurred from the pool. (...) After the hydrothermal explosion at Black Diamond Pool in Biscuit Basin on July 23, several temporary sensors, including seismometers, temperature probes, and cameras, were established to monitor changes. Those data indicate the occurrence of several smaller events, possibly related to surges of water from the pool that moved rocks around the pool’s periphery and mostly occurring at night. No other thermal features in the region have shown significant changes, and Biscuit Basin remains closed to visitors."
36062 23 Jul 2024 @ 1530 --- JarnoO Comparing USGS imagery post-eruption (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GTM0DC4WcAAP7lU?format=jpg) and James St. John's June 4, 2024 imagery (https://www.flickr.com/photos/jsjgeology/53857745000) of Black Diamond and the unnamed pool WSW of Black Diamond, it appears the latter has been incorporated into Black Diamond itself. Only a depression in the rim of Black Diamond's newly-enlarged crater remains as evidence of what once was.
36060 23 Jul 2024 @ 1454 --- steve The Firehole River at Midway Geyser Basin is muddy from the Black Diamond Eruption.
28679 07 Oct 2023 @ 1619 --- steve The runoff from Black Diamond enters Salt and Pepper then appears to run underground and comes out about 6 feet downhill after which it runs into the river.
27243 26 Jul 2023 @ 1710 --- steve The pool is clearer than I have ever seen it. There is still a little opalescence.
2727 15 Apr 2016 @ 1942 --- Janet Jones Muddy with 5 dead cormorants being hauled off by a female coyote. Based on one bird carcass already having been fed on by ravens, maybe an eruption sometime this morning? Local visitors saw the ravens at about 0930-1000. Also - Black Diamond and Black Opal now join together with a channel of water.
2515 10 Oct 2015 @ 2121 --- Janet Jones Black Diamond and Wall Pool were all joined at the surface with gray muddy water.
389 23 Aug 2012 @ 1642 --- KarlH Black Diamond at 1642 per visitor report. Visitor Center called it out over FRS. I had just been at Biscuit 2 hrs before. Salt and Pepper had been white, now muddy and throwing rocks. Spoke with visitors who also witnessed eruption for confirmation.
