Thursday Sept 20 1979 - Disturbance check after 1730 - Corporal Geyser and The Dog’s Leg – The trail south of these two features was found to be very wet. Foot prints covering water flowing makes point towards the possibility of a major eruption last night. Dogs Leg (170ºF) bubbling hard before Corporal eruption. As Corporal erupts, Dogs Leg drained with loud gurgling. Corporal temp ie 176ºF.
It seemed to me that the odor of H2S was stronger in the basin this evening. |

Immediately after the eruption ceased in Corporal Dog’s Leg filled. Dog’s Leg remained at least partially filled until Corporal again resumed its vigorous eruption some 18 minutes later. |
