Note: | In the short time I observed it, there was only bubbles rising in one spot along the long side closest to the boardwalk. These were nice sized, steady bubbles. There were also tiny bubbles rising from the ledge along the side with the boardwalk spur in one spot. I only saw one instance of a small upwelling of water. While it is still clear and blue throughout the pool, and there's still good overflow, it doesn't seem as hot as last year - at least in the 5-10 minutes I was there. Perhaps I caught it in a more quiet moment. The small trees between the boardwalk spur and the pool are dying (glad for that as they would block one of my repeat photography views). The small pools on the hill "Above Abyss" and right next to the boardwalk are more active than last fall. There are four that are open and the fifth was steaming. It has been many years since all five appear to have energy. Three are larger than last fall and were full of boiling water. The largest was showing signs of overflow last fall - indicating possible cycling. Channels carved by water from the vent were not seen on this visit. No additional dying trees were seen in this area. |
