Note:8/21/1981 At 09:00 the new geyser described on the preceding page was erupting to 25 feet. The water was much clearer then yesterday. The area within 6-8 feet of the main vent (a) was totally covered with pebbles and rocks. The vent itself was clear of rocks. There was much erosion and new run-off channels around the vent (a). The eruption would start with vent C filling up, and water being ejected to about 6 feet. About 2 minutes later this vent would start overflowing, and ~ ½ minute later the main vent would surge up. The main vent would reach maximum height about 5 seconds after start, and would not diminish until the end. There was no water visible in the vent until the start of the eruption. The eruption of the cave (vent B) would last for the first three minutes of the major eruption, with water occasionally being splashed to 8’ from vent. During the eruption of “B” more water was ejected than from the main vent
