Note:- no times noted - Colloidal Pool and Hurricane Vent are two well-known features in the Porcelain Basin. When observed on September 20 (and as reported through the summer), Colloidal Pool was boiling to about five feet. The water was cloudy blue in color. Hurricane Vent was a calm pool of gray water. On the morning of September 25, Colloidal Pool became still and dropped about eight inches. The boiling then resumed and the water was a murky gray color. Hurricane Vent had ebbed about two feet. Throughout the following three days, Colloidal Pool gained and lost (to a maximum drop of twenty inches) while Hurricane Vent remained low.
